Akron has a $60 million hole in its budget, is laying off 213 employees and cut its baseball program. Yet somehow it has $700,000 in its athletic department budget to pay football players and other athletes $2,400 on top of their athletic scholarships -- the so-called full cost of attending college. would someone please explain where Akron is finding the $? Oh, wait, of course, the poor students who foot the bill! They will pay even more in "fees" so Akron can pretend it is a major football power. this from a team that is 64-114 since 2000 and a half-filled $60-million stadium. Talk about magical thinking!
